Pedestrian Struck By Driver In Montgomery County Dies At Hospital: Police

A 61-year-old man has died at an area hospital after being struck by a driver earlier this week in Montgomery County, police confirmed.

Jose Rene Del Cid Ramos has been identified by investigators as the person who was struck by a Nissan Maxima in Rockville on Tuesday night.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, shortly before 9:15 p.m. on Sept. 24, first responders were called to the intersection of Hungerford Road and Beall Avenue, where there were reports of a person who had been struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, they found Del Cid Ramos suffering from critical injuries. Paramedics rushed the 61-year-old to an area hospital, where he later was pronounced dead, police announced on Thursday morning.

Investigators say that the Nissan was traveling north on Hungerford Road when the driver - who remained at the scene to cooperate with police - struck him.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
